Basic Pizza Dough

This basic pizza dough recipe is easy to make and perfect for homemade pizzas. It yields a delicious, chewy crust that you can customize with your favorite toppings.

Ingredients:

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Instructions:

In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast

Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy

In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt

Make a well in the center

Pour the yeast mixture and olive oil into the well

Stir until a dough forms, then knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth

Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise for 1-2 hours until doubled in size

Preheat your oven to 475F 245C and place a pizza stone or baking sheet inside to heat

Punch down the dough and roll it out to your desired thickness on a floured surface

Transfer the rolled-out dough to a piece of parchment paper

Add your favorite pizza toppings and bake on the preheated stone or baking sheet for 10-12 minutes until crust is golden brown

Slice and enjoy
