Honey-Sweetened Horchata
A healthy, dairy-free, and prebiotic drink made with honey-sweetened horchata and a tasty mix of almond milk, cinnamon, and rice.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup uncooked white rice
- 4 cups water
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
- Ice cubes, for serving
- Cinnamon powder, for garnish
Instructions:
Put the uncooked rice, water, and cinnamon stick in a blender
Blend until the rice is rough
It should sit at room temperature for three hours
After that, strain it into a pitcher through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth
The honey, almond milk, vanilla extract, and salt should all be mixed in well
Place the horchata in the fridge for one to two hours, or until it is cold
Put it on ice cubes and sprinkle some cinnamon powder on top
